Cybercrime Law in Ukraine
Ukraine — the home country of the Computer Crime Research Center — addresses computer crime mainly through a dedicated section of its Criminal Code.
Key law
- Criminal Code of Ukraine, Section XVI — “Criminal offences in the sphere of the use of electronic computers (computers), systems and computer networks and telecommunication networks,” Articles 361–363-1. These cover unauthorized interference with computers and networks, the creation and spread of malicious software, unauthorized sale or distribution of restricted information, and related offences.
- Ukraine ratified the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime (in force from 2006), aligning its framework with the international standard.
Enforcement
The Cyberpolice Department of the National Police of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) investigate cybercrime, often in cooperation with international partners.
