Las Vegas man arrested on charges of sexually assaulting children

A man who worked with children at a local church was arrested for sexually assaulting girls and taping the acts.

Harold Shaw, 59, was held at the Clark County jail Monday on $400,000 bail on three counts of sexual assault of a victim under 14, two counts each of possessing and manufacturing child pornography, and one count of lewdness with a minor.

Las Vegas police arrested Shaw on Thursday after a Feb. 6 search of his home found a child’s bedroom set up with a wireless camera pointed at the bed along with two digital video cameras.

Police said they collected photographs, videotapes, papers, computers and computer equipment. One of the tapes showed a girl about 12 years old being sexually assaulted by Shaw, police said. She appeared to be drugged or intoxicated.

Police also found a backpack filled with candy and a Bible studies book.

Lt. Jeff Carlson said police are trying to locate the alleged victims.

The name of the church where Shaw worked was not identified.
